The Boa Nova Tea House and Restaurant, set over a rocky promontory, began as a competition organized by the Council of Matosinhos in 1958.
At the time a young architect collaborating in Fernando Távora s office, Álvaro Siza would be the author of the project, going on the implantation defined by his master.
Álvaro Siza developed the project with extreme attention to detail, expressing himself with a very personal sensitivity in regards to the landscape where the building is set.
Architecture and nature dialogue, relate, support each other in a harmonious whole that seems only possible to happen in that manner.
The parking area, the access platforms and the exterior stairs where designed and built later on.
The building was rehabilitated in 1991, still keeping its integrity.
