MORE DETAILS:
The Casa da Musica was the emblematic work of the event that marked the city of Porto in 2001, the year in which it was the European Capital of Culture.
The competition was won by architect Rem Koolhaas, which presented a bold and polemic project.
The constructively difficult and technologically demanding building, revealed to have great impact. An asymmetrical polyhedron in white concrete, with no relation to the context in which it is set, brought to the city, the debate on the new expressive forms of contemporary architecture.
Today it is an essential facility for the country’s cultural life.
