MORE DETAILS:
With this project, architect Eduardo Souto Moura wanted to prove that it is possible to build in Porto’s periphery quality architecture at standard prices. The paradigm to follow would be constructive standardization and the systematic repetition of details.
It is a residential building, situated in the city of Maia, which embodies 32 apartments and 8 commercial spaces.
Totally covered in aluminium shutters, it was a rectangular form, with an expansion joint, which symmetrically divides the building in two.
The vertical accesses, circulations, storage and bathroom areas, define the buildings central nucleuses, freeing the entire external perimeter for living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms.
The structural module is 5,90m, which allows for 2,95m bedroom fronts and the same measurement for the parking spaces.
