This plan also foresees the improvement of the exterior spaces and the construction of multipurpose facilities and two office buildings that frame the Square “Praça da Liberdade” and the monument in honour of the revolution of 25th of April. The Library, completely built in white concrete, is composed of an elevated volume of forty-five by forty-five metres, with a central void of twenty by twenty metres, resting on two “L” shaped pillars at the east and west ends. Predominant in the façades are the long horizontal openings with views of the river. _______________________________________________
