The Euro 2004 took to construction 10 stadiums in Portugal, and despite the exaggeration in number, this event evokes our capacity, as a country, to materialize. It also left some great architectural legacy. It is the case of this work, built on an abandoned stone-quarry in Braga. Concrete and granite stand as major players in this scenario, that takes us back to the archetype of the Greek amphitheatre, the ancestor of all our performance venues. The project managed to impose upon more conservative mentalities that defended a stadium with a traditional configuration, and became an icon of architectural excellence. _______________________________________________
